However, there were three rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanon on Wednesday. The Israeli army fired artillery shells during the operation. Following this action by the Israeli army, another rocket attack was launched over Israel on Thursday morning. Following these attacks for the second day in a row, Israeli warplanes pounded Lebanon. The Israeli air force informed that the airstrikes were carried out on the sites and facilities where the Rockets were fired. The locations where the rockets had been launched in the past also were targeted.

Benny Gantz, Israeli Defence Minister said that the airstrikes launched on Thursday were meant to send the right message to the groups launching the rockets. Israel can take more robust action, but I hope it will not be needed. The Israeli defence minister also expressed suspicion that Palestinian groups were behind the rocket attacks. Since 2014, this is said to be the first time that Israel has carried out airstrikes in Lebanon

Lebanese President Michael Aon has expressed displeasure over the Israeli airstrikes. He criticised that the airstrikes show that Israel’s aggressive intentions towards Lebanon have intensified. These attacks pose a direct threat to the security and stability of southern Lebanon. Israel’s attacks violate UN resolutions. The media has claimed that there were no casualties in the rocket attacks and the Israeli airstrikes.

Lebanon is currently politically unstable and attempts to form a government are consistently failing. As a result, Western analysts and the Israeli government are warning that Lebanon has become even more dangerous and poses a threat to Israeli security. At the same time, Israel has warned that the Lebanese government will be held responsible for any attacks originating from Lebanon.
