Republican Senator Mitt Romney and Todd Young and Senators Tim Caine and Ed Markie from the Democrat party have presented the proposal to boycott China. The US Congressmen have demanded China stop the blatant violation of human rights, including the genocide of the Uyghurs. The proposal recommends that the US administration not provide any funds for the US diplomatic officials and employees to attend the Winter Olympics.

The Senators claimed that this diplomatic boycott would deliver a severe jolt to the Chinese Communist regime. The US Congressmen has adopted an aggressive stand against the Uyghurs atrocities and Hongkong. So, the new proposal is a part of the same stand. The proposal draws attention; it has been presented as an amendment to the Defence Bill. The US Congress has passed many bills about atrocities against the Uyghurs. It also imposed sanctions against Chinese officials and companies.

In the last few months, the international community has been consistently targeting China over the Uyghurs issue. The moves for a boycott of the Winter Olympics are considered part of the same campaign. So far, demand for boycotting the Olympics has emerged in the United States, Canada, European countries. Moreover, the resolutions about this have also been presented in the respective parliaments. Nikki Haley, Leader of the opposition in the United States and former US Ambassador to the United Nations, has started a boycott on the Winter Olympics in China. Hitler started the second world war immediately after the Olympics organised in Nazi Germany. Haley had warned that China would also launch an attack on Taiwan once the Winter Olympics were concluded. China is threatening military action against Taiwan and the responsible countries cannot ignore the accusation that this matter could be directly connected to the organisation of the Winter Olympics.

China has dismissed all the allegations levelled against it and has, in turn, accused that the demand for a ban on the Winter Olympics is politically motivated.
