London – Over 500,000 Afghanis who fled Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover are headed for Europe. UK Home Secretary Priti Patel has expressed concerns over this influx of Afghan immigrants and held talks with leaders of the Five Eyes countries. As per the sources in the UK government, the United Kingdom will face a significant crisis if this influx is not controlled in time.
Moreover, millions of Afghans got scared and fled the country after the Taliban captured Afghanistan last August. It is claimed that nearly 2.2 million went into neighbouring Pakistan and Iran. Hundreds of thousands have left for Asian and European countries through the Middle East.
Last year itself, United Nations had warned that more than 500,000 immigrants from Afghanistan would knock on the European border in the next few months. The UK intelligence agency warned that the immigrants have reached near the European countries. After that, the UK Home Secretary Priti Patel convened a meeting of the Ministers from the Five Eyes countries.
Moreover, Patel started discussions on undertaking measures to stop the immigrant influx. This organisation has participation from the intelligence agencies of the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as members alongside the United Kingdom. Belarus using the Afghan immigrants as a weapon has become a cause of concern for the United Kingdom. It is accused that Belarus is trying to push these immigrants into Europe by crossing the border of countries like Lithuania and Poland.
The UK agencies express that the immigrants entering Europe are entering the United Kingdom in large numbers. 28,000 immigrants have intruded into the United Kingdom in the last year. The UK agencies claimed that 1,341 immigrants have landed on the UK shores, crossing the English Channel. It is a serious matter and these immigrants could pose a serious challenge to the United Kingdom. A warning is being issued that if this is not stopped in time, it could create serious issues for the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the western countries have stopped funding to Afghanistan after the Taliban took control of the country. Taliban had warned nearly a month ago that this is causing hardships to the Afghanis. If the western countries do not release the funds, immigrant influx will perpetrate in Europe and the United States.
