Jerusalem – Riots broke out once again, in Jerusalem, within a few hours of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. 20 people got injured in the clashes between the Israeli police and the agitating youth. Some youth gave slogans in support of Hamas and against the Fatah party of Palestine President Mahmood Abbas. The security at the places of worship and cities has been tightened in Israel and West Bank.
Since Friday morning, there was a large gathering of Palestinian youth in the Al Aqsa region of Jerusalem. At this time, the youth gave slogans against Israel, waving Hamas flags. The Hamas supporter youth also gave slogans against Palestine President Mahmood Abbas. Videos of the demonstration have been posted on social media.
The spokesman of Israel police said that some Palestinian youth pelted stones at the policemen. After that, the clash sparked between the police and the protestors. Israeli soldiers used tear gas at this time. 20 Palestinians were injured in the conflict.
Two weeks ago, there had been a massive riot in the same area. The riots also had spread to the main cities in West Bank and Israel like Lod and Ramallah. Against this background, security has been strengthened in important Israeli cities.
