Sindhi community holds protests in US against Pakistani atrocities

Washington: – Protests are being held around the world to demand the rights of Sindhi, Baloch and Pashtun communities in Pakistan. Moreover, similar protests were held outside the Pakistani embassy in the United States. ‘Sindhi Foundation’, a group in the United States held, strong demonstrations in front of the Pakistani Ambassador’s residence. The protestors alleged that the Pakistan security forces are showering atrocities on the Sindhi community. Whereas, the Baloch people participating in the protests shouted slogans for independent Balochistan.

Sindhi, Baloch and Pashtun communities and the citizens from Gilgit-Baltistan, observed a ‘Black Day’ on the occasion of the Pakistan Independence Day. At this time, the actions of the Imran Khan government, Pakistan military and ISI, in the Sindh province were strongly censured. Two days ago, the Pakistan military abducted Sarang Joya, a Sindhi leader, from Karachi. The family members of Joya said that there is no trace of democracy left in Pakistan. They accused that the Pakistan judiciary is not willing to utter a single word against the military and the ISI. 92 people have been abducted in Pakistan, in the last seven weeks. All these, are the people raising their voice against the government and military and accusations are rife that the Pakistan security agencies are targeting their opponents.   

The Sindhi group in the United States that took cognisance of these developments, called for protests against the Pakistan government and military. It was demanded during the protests outside the residence of Assad Majid Khan, the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, that Pakistan be declared a terrorist state. The protestors shouted slogans ‘These protests will continue; till the time the United Nations and the United States do not declare Pakistan as a terrorist State.’ Sindhi, Baloch and Pashtun communities and the citizens from Gilgit-Baltistan also participated in the protests. Slogans regarding the increasing Chinese interference, in Pakistani matters, were also given during the protests. The Protestors from Gilgit-Baltistan pointed out ‘China is interfering in the foreign and economic policies of Pakistan. These are warning bells for the world. Therefore, the international community should focus on Pakistan.’  

Meanwhile, some of the Pakistani analysts and journalists are criticising that there is no freedom in the country. Pakistani journalist Marvi Sirmed expressed anger against the atrocities meted out to the minorities in the country. Journalist Marvi Sirmed pointed out ‘Pakistan is struggling for freedom, even after 73 years of Independence. No one from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and even media is free in Pakistan. Thousands of people are missing, even today.’
