These are the biggest war exercises, held by the Afghan Armed Forces, in the last few years. Afghan Military Chief, General Yaseen Zia was present during the exercises. General Zia warned at this time, that the Armed Forces were set to thwart any threats against the Afghan people. Although the Afghan military chief did not mention any names, it is evident that he was warning Pakistan, who has intruded through the Durand Line into Afghanistan and built military posts.

The soldiers who participated in the exercises and the locals who witnessed them also have given their reactions. The Afghan military is prepared to retaliate against Pakistan and any given time. An Afghan soldier who participated in the exercises reminded that the military has taught a lesson to Pakistan in the past. Another soldier lambasted that if Pakistan defeated Afghan Armed Forces ten times, we would defeat them 100 times, as we have lions in the Afghan forces. Whereas, the locals expressed confidence in the Afghan Armed Forces, saying that they can directly engage Pakistan.

A few days ago, the Pakistan military launched rocket and mortar attacks in the Afghan border regions, killing 15 people. The Afghan Armed Forces and air force had been issued orders to retaliate. After that, the tension on the Afghan-Pak border had increased. There is a long-standing dispute, between Afghanistan and Pakistan, over the Durand line. The Durand Line claimed by Pakistan is unacceptable to Afghanistan. Afghanistan vehemently opposes building fence and posts, in this area, by the Pakistan military. Regular conflicts are reported between the two countries, over this issue. In this scenario, the Afghan Armed Forces have issued a warning to Pakistan, by holding two exercises, near the Durand Line, in three days.
