Jammu: Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Naravane, paid a visit to the border areas in the Jammu Sector. He also visited Pathankot. A few days ago, reports had been received that Pakistan has increased its military deployment in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Against this background, General Naravane reviewed the preparation and readiness of the Indian Army. This is the third visit of the Indian Army Chief to this region, in the last three months, increasing the importance of this visit to Jammu-Kashmir region.
On Monday, Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane visited the international border, along with the Line of Control. Before this, he held discussions with senior military officials. General Naravane also had a dialogue with the soldiers deployed in the area. Military officials informed that General Naravane reviewed the readiness and preparedness of the Indian soldiers in the Samba, Kathua, Jammu and Pathankot areas.
General Naravane warned that no misadventure of the enemy would be tolerated and it will face a strong retaliation. The intelligence agencies had recently issued a warning that Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) may attack the defence forces and the locals. General Naravane’s statements gain significance against this background. No more details of this visit of General Naravane have been revealed.
Since the last few days, Pakistan is continuously carrying out cross border firing on the Jammu-Kashmir border. Reports had been received that Pakistan had deployed 20,000 additional soldiers in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, at the time when the tension between India and China had heightened and could have culminated in a conflict at Ladakh. The firing from the Pakistan side also had increased during this period. India has repeatedly clarified that India is prepared to fight on both fronts. Even this time, the visit of the Chief of the Army Staff is seemingly issuing a stern warning to Pakistan.
