The last year was a challenging year for the Indian Army; General Naravane referred to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) situation in Ladakh. Fourteen rounds of negotiations have been held with China to defuse the tension in the region. It is a positive development that negotiations are also being held on the military and diplomatic level to reduce the tensions. The Army Chief reprimanded China indirect words saying that no one should misunderstand the Indian capabilities.

Indian soldiers are defending the country with resolve, in this region with snow-clad mountains. Their morale is sky-high. This is delivering a clear message to the enemy that the Indian Army will not allow any changes to the situation on the border. General Naravane warned that the Indian Army would shoot down each one of these attempts. General Naravane had issued a similar warning to China, and China had expressed displeasure over it.

The Army Chief warned that although the situation on Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan is comparatively better, Pakistan still harbours terrorists. The Army Chief pointed out that activities are being carried out on the terrorist base camps in Pak Occupied Kashmir. Nearly 300 to 400 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate India.

Last year, the Indian Army eliminated 194 terrorists in Jammu-Kashmir. Attempts of supplying arms to terrorists using drones are being made. The Army is closely monitoring them. The situation has drastically improved in Jammu-Kashmir over the last two years. This has upset the organisations across the border and they are plotting for infiltration and creating anarchy. General Naravane accused that these terrorist organisations also are planning to target the workers who have come to Jammu-Kashmir from other states.
