US President has disappointed Saudi, criticises Saudi Prince Turki -

Riyadh: Prince Turki, a senior member of the Saudi royal family, made vitriolic criticism ‘US cooperation was expected when the threat to the Saudi security increased. But the Biden administration has disappointed Saudi.’ Prince Turki also alleged that President Biden is preparing to outcast Saudi, as promised during his election campaign.

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, who has been the head of Saudi intelligence and has been an Ambassador to the United States and Great Britain in the past, slammed the United States during an interview with an Arab news channel. Prince Turki was speaking regarding the Russia-Ukraine war and the position of Saudi in respect of these developments. Prince Turki held the Biden administration responsible for the increasing threat from Iran and its affiliated terrorist organisations.

Prince Turki pointed out that Biden removed the Houthi rebels from the list of terrorist organisations immediately after taking over the reins of the United States on the 12th of February. Prince Turki accused Iran of posing a threat to Saudi and international marine security and stability, using the Houthi rebels as a weapon. In such times, the Biden administration has boosted the strength of the Houthis by removing them from the list of terrorist organisations. Moreover, this has intensified the attacks on Saudi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

After that, while speaking about the US-Saudi relations, Prince Turki accused that the stand of the Biden administration is rocking these relations. Prince Turki criticised that there have been ups and downs in the US-Saudi relations even earlier. But After Biden took over as the US President, the bilateral relations sunk. The senior member of the Saudi royal family cited the announcements made by Biden during his election campaign while speaking about the strained relations.

During the elections campaign in 2020, Biden had lashed out at Saudi in harsh words and had announced to boycott Saudi. After taking over as the US President, Biden had tried to turn this into a reality, claimed Prince Turki. At first, Biden withdrew from the US-Saudi joint military action in Yemen against the Houthi rebels. After that, while visiting Saudi, Biden refused a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Prince Turki pointed out that Biden had announced that he would not be meeting the Saudi Crown Prince even in the future. Prince Turki criticised that the feeling in Saudi is that a close friend has betrayed it.

Meanwhile, the Saudi and UAE leaders avoid calls made by President Biden. It is alleged that the policies of the Biden administration are responsible for this. Analysts from the Middle East have made vitriolic criticism that Biden has acquired an expertise in losing friends and pushing them away. But now, the Biden administration is pleading with the Middle Eastern countries to bring the fuel prices, flaring up given the Russia-Ukraine war, under control. But the efforts of the Biden administration are not going to be successful in resolving their displeasure.
