The US must understand that China is our enemy – Ex-US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice

Washington – Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States was not anti-China, the US White House clarified recently. However, analysts worldwide are stating that the cooperation of India and the United States is against the China threat. The US strategic analysts have realised that the United States is facing a serious challenge from China, and there is no other option but to take India’s help. Against this background, after the Indian Prime Minister’s visit, former US Secretary of State and senior diplomat Condoleezza Rice gave a reality check to the Biden administration.

There is a great difference between China from fifteen years ago and present-day China. Today, China competes with the United States in the domains of defence, economy and technology, and this cannot be ignored. China is US’ enemy nation; we must understand this’, warned former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Last week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited China and tried to improve relations between the two countries. However, his visit was unsuccessful. Thus, the former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, reprimands the Biden administration.

The US media claims that the Biden administration has been trying to establish cooperation by reducing the tension with China since last month. Meanwhile, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said that the US is ready to talk with China even at the international security meeting held in Singapore. At the same time, US State Secretary, Blinken went to China to discuss the issue of improving business cooperation. However, both these efforts of the Biden administration have failed, and such criticism is gaining momentum in the United States.

Moreover, Condoleezza Rice, who was the Secretary of State during the tenure of former US President George Bush (2005 to 2009), rebuked the policy of the Biden administration while speaking at an event. ‘Fifteen years ago, China and the United States had cooperative relations. At that time, Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao had different views on the role of their country at the global level. China, at that time, was cooperating with the United States even on the issue of North Korea. But, it will not be possible to say the same about present-day China,’ Rice has indicated that the current President of China, Xi Jinping, will not cooperate with the United States.

At the same time, Former US State Secretary Rice warned that ignoring this change in China’s role would not benefit the United States. Besides, Condoleezza Rice reprimanded the Biden administration that they need to realise that China is also an enemy country of the United States in the region. For this, Rice also reminded of the aggression shown by China against US aircraft and destroyers in the South China Sea area.

‘Warships and aircraft of the Chinese Navy are coming dangerously close to US destroyers and aircraft. It can lead to a conflict between China and the United States. There will be a conflict with China. The United States should not do anything that would spark a conflict with China. Along with this, the United States will not compromise the freedom of navigation and will continue patrolling in this area. It is necessary to convey this message to China that Chinese destroyers should not go close to US warships at all. However, this warning should be given on a personal level. Secretary of State Blinken would have done this during his visit to China,’ the former Secretary of State Rice said.

After US Secretary of State Blinken visited China, President Biden criticised Chinese President Xi Jinping as a dictator. After this, the Prime Minister of India, Modi, visited the United States. The unprecedented welcome accorded to Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the United States is part of the US anti-China strategy; China is criticising this. After this, former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice clearly stated that the United States considers China an enemy country.

All major countries worldwide are beginning to feel the threat of China’s hegemonic activities in the Indo-Pacific region. It has created a huge imbalance, and major countries worldwide have realised that there is no other option but to develop cooperation with India to establish stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region. The Biden administration has also prepared to set up the Quad and AUKUS groups to counter this threat from China. However, the anti-China activities of the Biden administration do not show the necessary aggressiveness; these allegations have been happening for a long time. China seems to be taking a big advantage of this. Against this background, the advice given to the Biden administration by former Secretary of State Rice, who knows international politics, is significant.
