In the last few months, China seems to have augmented its presence in the Pacific Ocean alongside the South China Sea. Last year, China had patrolled in the Pacific Ocean with the Russian navy. Following that, China’s aircraft carrier Liaoning had transited through the Pacific Ocean with its fleet. The media of the Chinese regime has claimed that these activities are going on in response to the US deployment in the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait.

Moreover, the possibility of China attacking Taiwan has risen with such rising activities. The Chinese armed forces have raised their military deployment at the Chinese base near Taiwan. Besides, China has been consistently organising mock drills of attacks on Taiwan. Such activities by China have concerned the United States and its allies. Hence, those nations have augmented their movements.

Furthermore, the exercises held by the United States in the last ten days indicate a part of the same plan. On January 25 & 26, the US-Japan air forces and militaries had participated in the ‘Airborne 2022’ exercise. The drill focused on deploying troops and supplying defence equipment during wartime. All the more, the 374 Airlift Wing of the United States had participated in this exercise. After that, the US-Japanese naval ‘Anti-Submarine Warfare’ drill took place in the Philippines Sea maritime region.

USS Fitzgerald had also participated in this exercise on behalf of the United States. Whereas JS Takanami had participated on behalf of Japan. The Japanese Navy reported that this exercise was held from January 27 to February 2. Besides, from February 2, the US-Japan-Australia war exercise has begun at the US military base in Guam. This exercise, known as Cope North 22, would continue for two weeks. Moreover, a US daily reported that exercise’ Noble Fusion’ has begun in Japan and United States from Thursday, February 3.
