Brussels: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has claimed that Israel should rest assured saying, “The United States is committed to confronting the Iranian threat.” Pompeo expressed confidence that Iran can be brought to its knees by exerting more and more pressure.
US Secretary of State is currently on his visit to the European countries when he met the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Brussels. Pompeo and Netanyahu discussed the issues of the increasing influence of the Hezbollah in Iran and Lebanon as well as the influence of Iran and Hezbollah in Syria. Saying that Israel had the right to defend itself, Pompeo justified the Israeli action in Syria. Prime Minister Netanyahu indicated action against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which is becoming an increasing threat for Israel. The meeting was also attended by senior military officials of Israel including the Chief of intelligence agency Mossad and the National Security Advisor of Israel.
