Moreover, the United Nations and international community have expressed concern about the civil war ongoing in Yemen for over seven years. Last month, 650 people died or got severely injured in the Yemen conflict. Besides, this incident is considered the first one to have such a tremendous mortality rate amid the conflict between the Yemen government and Houthi Rebels. Moreover, Hans Grundberg has expressed concern that nearly eight million civilians in Yemen would remain deprived of humanitarian aid if the civil war didn’t stop in time.

But, UAE Ambassador to the UN, Lana Nusseibeh, drew UN Special envoy Hans Grundberg’s attention to the events from before. Besides, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had proposed ceasefire and peace talks to Houthi rebels to stop the civil war in Yemen. All the more, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Arab allies had stepped forward and implemented a ceasefire. However, Houthi rebels initiated an attack and violated the truce, reminded envoy Nusseibeh.

“During the past months, we’ve heard several briefings, including that of Hans Grundberg regarding his efforts to bring the Houthis back to the table of negotiations. However, terrorist attacks targeted civilian facilities in the UAE, resulting in casualties among innocent civilians. We cannot but ask, when will the appeasement of this terrorist group end?” questioned envoy Nusseibeh.

Furthermore, Ambassador Nusseibeh has slammed the United Nations for its failure to teach Houthi rebels a lesson. The UAE envoy demanded the United Nations declare Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen as terrorists. At the same time, envoy Nusseibeh also warned that the UAE reserves the sovereign right to counterattack Houthi rebels.
