Japan and France hold Two-Plus-Two talks

Tokyo: – While China is making aggressive military moves in the Indo-Pacific sector, Japan and France will be holding Two-Plus-Two talks on Thursday. Since the last few weeks, France has been paying more attention to its investments in the Indo-Pacific sector. Whereas, Japan is increasing its cooperation with the European countries. Ten days ago, Two-Plus-Two talks held been held between the United States and Japan.

On Tuesday, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi shared the information regarding the Two-Plus-Two talks with France. Moreover, essential discussions on issues like Coronavirus, trade and security related matters will be held during the virtual meeting scheduled on Thursday. Foreign Minister Hayashi informed that the focus of the discussions would be the regional issues. This meeting was to be held in Japan in the last month. But given the Omicron crisis, the meeting was postponed and hence, a virtual meeting was arranged.   

Over the last few weeks, Japan has initiated steps to increase defence cooperation with Important European countries, the United Kingdom and Germany. At the same time, Japan has also undertaken steps to increase cooperation with India regarding the Indo-Pacific sector.
