Tension mounts between Israel-China as the latter imparts military coop

Tel Aviv: Israel and China recently celebrated 30 years of cooperation. Trade between the two countries has reached $18 billion. Besides, this trade is expected to increase in the coming years, Israel had expressed in January. But it appears that Israel is losing faith in China. As per the claims, Israel’s exports to China are declining. It has been revealed that China is providing military support to the Assad regime in the conflict in Syria. Therefore, Israeli analysts have claimed that the cooperation between Israel and China is in crisis.

Last month, the Syrian government announced foreign military aid at an event held in the capital, Damascus. The Syrian government has announced that the Syrian army will soon receive advanced communication systems from China. Additionally, the Israeli news agency has reported citing sources, that China may soon provide defence materials for the Syrian army. Russian air defence systems deployed in Syria are proving useless to the Syrian army. As a result, Syria can purchase air defence systems from China; the Israeli news agency reported citing sources.

This news has caused an uproar in Israel. Military analysts in Israel are criticizing that China is acting against Israel by providing military aid to Syria. Some analysts say that China’s investment in Syria may hinder the Israeli army’s operations against terrorist sites in Syria. Former Israeli intelligence chief Danny Yatom alleged that China is hiding its military activities by making commercial investments in Syria.

At the same time, it was revealed that China was behind the cyber attacks in Israel. The Israeli media has pointed out that all these developments have created a rift in the relationship between Israel and China.
