More than 23 Taliban terrorists killed in airstrikes in Afghanistan

Third World WarKabul: The Afghanistan agencies have intensified the action against the Taliban further, given the scrapping of talks between the United States and Taliban and the upcoming elections. More than 23 Taliban terrorists were killed in the airstrikes, carried out by the Afghan defence forces in three provinces. Against this background, US President Donald Trump has claimed that the Taliban has suffered maximum losses in this year of the 19-year long conflict.

More than 23 Taliban terrorists killed in airstrikes in AfghanistanPeace talks were being held between the United States and Taliban since the last several months. President Trump decided of withdrawing from the peace talks because of Taliban’s refusal for a ceasefire and attacks on the US soldiers. He had also indicated that the United States and NATO forces would initiate stronger attacks against the Taliban after withdrawal from the peace talks. The United States has initiated the action accordingly.

The peace talks between the United States and Taliban have fallen through against the background of the upcoming elections in Afghanistan. Therefore, the Taliban has intensified the attacks to disrupt the elections. The Afghanistan defence forces have initiated campaigns in various provinces to stop the Taliban attacks. The airstrikes on Friday and Saturday are considered to be a part of the same campaign.

Afghan defence forces carried out airstrikes in Ghazni, Kandahar and Bagdis provinces. Three terrorists were killed in the airstrikes in Ghazni province. Whereas, as per the Afghan sources, more than 20 terrorists were killed in the airstrikes in Kandahar and Bagdis provinces. While carrying out the airstrikes, the Jaghato district was captured by the Afghan forces through an independent military campaign ‘Operation Mobin’.

This campaign was carried out in the northern and western regions of Afghanistan. Taliban commander Moulavi Nasruddin also was among the terrorists, killed in the attack.

The US President claimed that the Taliban is jaded because of the attacks of the United States and the Afghan forces and have started accepting their mistakes. President Trump said that the Taliban has suffered the maximum losses in the current year of the 19-year long conflict and claimed that as per sources they are again getting ready for a dialogue.
