South Korea to build ‘Three Axis’ agency against North Korean threat

Seoul: South Korea has announced the formation of a new strategic command centre to counter the nuclear and missile threats posed by North Korea. It is claimed that under this, a Three-Axis system will be activated in the next two years. Whereas the new strategic command centre will be equipped with F-35 Stealth fighter jets, advanced air defence systems like Patriot, ballistic missiles and surveillance satellites.

South Korea to build a ‘Three-Axis’ agency against North Korean threatSouth Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol convened an urgent meeting of senior military officials at the Gironde Military Base. Discussions were held regarding the missile tests conducted by North Korea over the last year and the dangerous moves to conduct a nuclear test. After that, President Yeol lashed out at North Korea while speaking to the media. President Yeol accused North Korea of threatening the sovereignty and people of South Korea.

Moreover, President Yeol announced that the objective of the South Korean military is protecting the South Korean population, wealth, borders and sovereignty and our military is completely prepared for this. President Yeol also announced that there is a need to take necessary steps against the nuclear and missile threats posed by North Korea and South Korea, which would form the new strategic command for this purpose.

There is a joint command centre of all the three defence wings. South Korean President said that taking into account the North Korean nuclear and missile threats, the special agency ‘Three-Axis Command Centre’ will be important. The objectives set for the Three-Axis Command Centre are busting North Korean missile attacks, destroying North Korean bases even before the attack and building an independent air and missile South Korea to build a ‘Three-Axis’ agency against North Korean threatdefence system. Yeol had given indications regarding the Three-Axis Command Centre immediately after taking over the reins of South Korea.

According to the South Korean military sources, the security agency will be activated after necessary planning by 2024. South Korea can receive cooperation from the United States and its other allies. South Korea will try to acquire super-advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets capable of dodging even the advanced radar systems. President Yeol can open a fresh dialogue with the United States to deploy the Patriot air defence system in the country.

During the G-20 meeting held in Indonesia, Foreign Ministers of the United States, Japan and South Korea discussed the possible threats posed by North Korea. It is claimed that discussions were also held for cornering North Korea on the economic and trade fronts. All the details of the meeting have not been made public so far.
