iran, israel, hezbollah, syriaHezbollah Military Chief, Imad Mughniyeh, was killed in a bomb blast in Syria on February 18, 2008. The Iranian leaders had accused Israel of being responsible for the attack on Mughniyeh that occurred in the Syrian capital city of Damascus. Iran had blamed the Israeli intelligence agency for killing the Senior Commander of Hezbollah. However, Israel had dismissed the accusations by Iran and Hezbollah.

Following this, anti-Israel meetings were organised in Iran, Lebanon and Syria every year to protest the killing of Mughniyeh. While speaking at the meeting held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Soleimani announced the decision to eradicate Israel. The Mughniyeh killing has increased the discontent against Israel and the results will be evident very soon, said Gen. Soleimani.

General Soleimani and the Hezbollah leaders have threatened Israel on the issue of Mughniyeh even before this. The threat of avenging the killing of Mughniyeh and wiping out Israel from the world map was also given before.

General Soleimani is said to be very influential in Iraq and Syria and he has supposedly created a spy network here. The Iranian media had even published the claims of victories achieved by General Soleimani’s campaigns against the IS in Iraq. According to some analysts, even the United States had to take help from General Soleimani during its action against the IS. But, neither the United States nor Iran has confirmed this.

General Soleimani is known as a fanatically anti-Israel officer and the threat is likely to have repercussions at the international level.
