Russia launches more than 40 missiles and drones at Ukraine;

Moscow/Kyiv – Russia launched a powerful missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Wednesday morning. In this attack, a total of 44 missiles, along with 20 suicide drones, were launched. In this, the Russian Defense Ministry provided information about targeting the factories and drone centres supplying weapons to the Ukrainian army. Ukraine claimed to have shot down 29 out of 44 missiles fired by Russia. Russian missiles hit Ukraine’s western border. Because of this, information has come to light that neighbouring country Poland has dispatched its fighter F-16 aircraft.

The missile and drone strikes, which began Wednesday morning, targeted Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv provinces, including Kyiv. Russia is said to be using 11 Tu-95MS Strategic Bombers and 6 Tu-22M3 aircraft for the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry provided information about destroying the Ukrainian Navy’s ‘Marine Drone Plate’ in Mykolaiv. Apart from this, the Defense Ministry also shared information about attacks on coastal missile systems, rockets and explosives manufacturing enterprises. The local administration shared information about power outages in many areas due to the attacks on the capital, Kyiv.

This attack on Ukraine is said to be one of the biggest attacks since the beginning of the war. Ukraine has claimed to have intercepted 70 percent of the aerial targets from the missiles and drones fired during this attack. Earlier, Ukraine used to claim to have shot down all the attacking drones and missiles of Russia. However, their numbers have continuously declined in the last few months. The stock of missiles and ‘defence systems’ provided by Western countries is on the verge of being exhausted. This is the reason why such a situation is believed to have arisen.

Apart from the missile and drone attacks on Wednesday, Russia also claimed to have caused major losses to the Ukrainian army on the eastern Ukrainian front. The Russian Defense Ministry has also provided information about Ukraine losing thousands of soldiers in the last 24 hours. There have also been claims of Russian troops advancing in Donetsk province. Also, Russian intelligence has shared information about the shooting down of a Ukrainian fighter plane in Aleksivhka. In the past few weeks, Ukraine has attacked fuel plants and defence bases, including in Crimea and Belgorod province. Russian media and social media have claimed that Wednesday’s attack was a response to it.

Just a few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the intensity of attacks against Ukraine would increase in the future. Senior Russian MPs also said preparations for the new campaign had started. There were also reports of Russia significantly increasing its missile and drone production in the last few months. Against this background, the attacks carried out by Russia on Wednesday are attracting much attention.
