Russia act against US cyberattacks or be prepared for consequences

Washington/Moscow – US President Joe Biden warned that Russia should take action against the ransomware attacks launched on the United States. Otherwise, Russia will have to face the consequences. Russian President Vladimir Putin has given his reaction to the statement of the US President. Russia said that the United States has not shared any information regarding the cyberattacks with Russia so far. Last year, there were successive major cyberattacks on the United States, and it is believed that there was a Russian hand in these attacks.

Last month, the meeting was held between Russian President Putin and his US counterpart Biden in Geneva. At this time, US President Joe Biden had warned that if Russia launches cyberattacks on any of the 16 sensitive US sectors, the United States will retaliate hard. Within a few weeks of this meeting, the VSA software of the US company Kaseya was targeted. It is said that hundreds of US companies were hit by the attack. US President Biden had instructed the intelligence agencies to investigate the attack.

It is claimed that the hacker group Ravil, which launched the attack on Kaseya, is linked to Russia. It is said that US President Biden called on Russian President Putin against this same background. It is said that US President Biden issued a warning to the Russian President on the cyberattacks issue during the conversation. White House sources clarified ‘If a cyberattack carried out on the United States originates from the Russian land, Russia will have to act against it. If there is no action, Russia will have to face dire consequences.’ The United States has shared the relevant information with Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to the US statements. Putin said that the United States has not shared any information regarding the cyberattacks with Russia. President Putin said that Russia is always ready to cooperate with the United States over the cyberattacks issue but warned that the cooperation should be regular, professional, and have no political motives. The Russian President demanded that data sharing lines be opened between the US and Russian agencies for this cooperation. The US agencies had accused that Russia had a hand in the cyberattack on the Solarwinds last year. President Biden had instructed to formulate a special plan to retaliate against Russia. He had also warned that US agencies would launch cyberattacks on Russia. But there have been large scale cyberattacks of Ransomware and its kind on the United States after that and Ransom worth billions of dollars has been demanded. Claiming that the Russian hackers are behind these attacks, the United States seems to have adopted an aggressive stand in the matter.
