Russia tests anti-missile system

Moscow: – Russian defence department launched a satellite, which is a part of the Anti-missile system, on Thursday. The Soyuz-2 rocket was used for the launch. A few days ago, Russia blew up one of its satellites with an advanced missile. The international community had fired strong salvos of criticism at Russia after the incident.

The military satellite was launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia. Russia started the development of the Kupol Anti-missile System in 2019. Russian sources informed that this new satellite is a part of the same system. This system is a part of the early warning system and Russia has said that this is capable of tracking ballistic missiles.    

The website ‘Spaceflightnow’ has claimed that this satellite launched by Russia is a Tundra Satellite. Earlier, Russia had launched such satellites in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
