Rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanon, Israel retaliates

But the Israeli army responded by shelling southern Lebanon. The attacks from Lebanon are suspected to be linked to a terrorist organisation affiliated with Iran.

According to Israeli media reports, the rockets were launched from inside the Lebanese border. One of these rockets crashed in Lebanon itself. Whereas, two rockets landed in an open field at Kfar Giladi and Tel Hai in the Israeli city of Shemona. A siren was sounded in the town of Qiryat Shemona to alert locals regarding the rocket attacks. This has for some time been a cause for tension in the northern part of Israel.

The Israeli army then targeted villages in south Lebanon. Locals are claiming that Israeli artillery shells were fired at the towns of Marjayoun and Khiam. The media reported that there were no casualties in the attacks on both sides of the border. However, no group has claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack. The Israeli military has also avoided accusations.

The Israeli media has linked the attack to Iran-affiliated Palestinian terrorist organisations from Lebanon. Hours earlier, an Israeli cargo ship came under a drone attack off the coast of Oman. Israel has blamed Iran for the attack. Moreover, Israel had also warned Iran of retaliation. Iran has since threatened a strong counterattack. Rocket attacks from Lebanon into the Israeli border on Wednesday are believed to be linked to the Iranian threat.
