Neighbouring countries have no option but to unite against Chinese aggression – Claims US ambassador to Japan

Washington/Tokyo: Rahm Emanuel, the US Ambassador to Japan, said, ‘You look at India, you look at the Philippines, you look at Australia, you look at the United States, Canada or Japan. They (China) have had in just the last three months a military or some type of confrontation with every country. And then they’re shocked that countries are taking their own steps for deterrence to protect themselves. What did they think they were going to do?’

Neighbouring countries have no option but to unite against Chinese aggression - Claims US ambassador to JapanBesides, countries in the Indo-Pacific region have received threats from China for the last few days. China, which threatens to annex Taiwan soon, has increased patrols near the Japanese islands. Simultaneously, China has also threatened Japan not to cross the red line over the Taiwan issue. At the same time, there has been an allegation that China increased its military deployment near India’s LAC. In addition, China’s coast guard had intercepted laser beams at Philippine patrol boats. Rahm Emanuel also drew attention to the Chinese destroyers and fighter jets that travelled from proximity to US, Canadian and Australian planes.

Moreover, the US ambassador pointed out that it was because of these aggressive activities of China that the neighbouring countries were uniting. China defies that it was aggressive. Also, China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang alleged that the United States was provoking neighbouring countries against China. At the same time, Gang had threatened that the conflict would be inevitable if the US did not change its policy. But due to China’s aggression, neighbouring countries have no option but to unite, explained Emanuel. Furthermore, Ambassador Emanuel claimed that Japan and South Korea’s military assistance and military exercises with the US were not anti-China but rather preparations for self-defence.

US’s leading news channel did not publish this reaction of the US ambassador, while the US proposed to include Japan and South Korea in the new group.

In addition, the US has signalled to increase the nuclear preparedness of these two countries, which have been included in the US’s ‘Nuclear umbrella’. At the same time, the US State Department announced the provision of five E-2D Advanced Hawkeye to Japan. As per the demand of Japan, the US will provide these aircraft equipped with AWACS, i.e. aerial radar and security systems, to Japan under a contract worth 1.38 billion dollars. It has been claimed that Japan was buying this radar system from the US to counter China’s threat.
