Will act against those spreading misinformation on social media: Minister of State for IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar   

New Delhi: – Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Information Technology, said legal actions would be initiated against those spreading misinformation and malice on social media. Since the last few days, it has been exposed that certain people have been actively spreading misinformation and malice on social media against the country. The Indian media had also pointed out that some of these accounts were from Pakistan.

It has been exposed that China and Pakistan have started a propaganda war against India. Accordingly, both countries are using social media for spreading distorted and vicious information against India. The security and investigating agencies realised the need for stopping these anti-national activities while replying to the fake propaganda. The government had decided to shut the social media accounts of certain people who were spreading misinformation to increase the social divide and malice.  

The government has prepared a list of 78 accounts spreading misinformation and malice against India using various social media platforms. As per sources, legal actions will soon be started against these entities. Minister of State for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar said that the action would begin soon.   

Meanwhile, in 2020, China had used Indian social media to spread misinformation, following the conflict between the Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan valley. Foreign social media companies are banned in China. But it was exposed that China was using social media freedom in other countries for its selfish objectives. It was also exposed that China had sparked a propaganda war against India through social media. It was revealed that even Pakistan used social media for malicious campaigns against India and spread fake information to create a social divide.
