Washington/ Tokyo: It is becoming increasingly difficult to respond to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. The same can be repeated anywhere in the world, even in Asia. This increases the threat to a free, open and stable system and puts the international community on a historic footing. In such a case, Japan, the United States and Europe should take a united stand against aggressive China’, urged Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Ahead of his meeting with US President Joe Biden, the Japanese Prime Minister presented his country’s position.
Last week, Japan made a major shift in its decades-old defence policy. The Prime Minister of Japan has been on tour for the past few days to get the support of Japan’s allies for this defence policy and to prepare Japan militarily. Addressing a study group before meeting President Joe Biden, who arrived in the US on Friday, the Japanese prime minister called for US military assistance. Underlining China’s threat, Prime Minister Kishida said military assistance from the United States and European countries is necessary.
China’s aggression threatens Japan and the security of the United States and European countries. Therefore, Prime Minister Kishida said at a program that there is a need for Japan, the United States and Europe to come together to protect their interests against China. 
The Prime Minister of Japan drew attention to China’s growing aggression in the South and East China Sea. Japan recalled that a ballistic missile launched by China crashed in Japan’s territorial waters last year.
On the occasion of this visit, a ‘Two Plus Two’ discussion was held in the United States and Japan. Besides, the Defence and Foreign Ministers of both countries participated in this. At this time, Japan has said that it expects US assistance to increase the capability of Japan’s missiles along with increasing military cooperation. Meanwhile, the US and Japan should get out of the Cold War mentality and stop seeing China as a virtual enemy, which China has criticized.
