Indian army foiled Chinese military's infiltration bid - Defence Minister Rajnath SinghDefence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday spoke in both the Houses of Parliament on the issue of the India-China military standoff in Tawang. The brave Indian soldiers foiled an infiltration attempt by the Chinese army. Indian soldiers were injured in the clash, but the injuries were not serious, the Defence Minister informed. Indian media claimed that China was preparing for this conflict long ago. People in China have been taking to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with President Xi Jinping. Indian analysts have claimed that China has consciously raised border disputes with its neighbouring countries to quell this discontent. This has been the background behind the Chinese military’s provocative actions along the LAC in Tawang.

In addition, India has been getting the presidency of G20, and its importance on all economic, political and other fronts has been increasing has made China restless. Apart from this, at times when China’s economy has been facing a big crisis, the Indian economy has been progressing at a more promising pace. Moreover, multinational companies have been moving out of China, and many of these companies have started entering India. In the 2020 Galwan conflict, the Indian Army had proven its strength and gave a befitting response to China. Hence, to prove that its military has the capability to enter India, China had planned to infiltrate the Tawang LAC, analysts claim.

Due to snow accumulating in this area in December, Tawang’s LAC is not being patrolled. China had planned to take advantage of this and increase the pressure on the Indian army by camping. The Chinese military deployed 300 soldiers in the area for this. However, the alert Indian soldiers stopped the Chinese soldiers, and the conflict began. It is claimed that Indian soldiers taught a befitting lesson to the Chinese soldiers in this conflict. Consequently, the Chinese soldiers had to withdraw from there. The Chinese soldiers did not even think that Indian soldiers would be equipped here while they were infiltrating. Analysts say that the number of Indian soldiers stationed was equal to theirs proved shocking to the Chinese soldiers.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General C B Ponnappa clarified that the situation along the LAC in Tawang was under the control of the Indian Army. Also, it has emerged that the Air Force’s Sukhoi 30 MKI aircraft have started air patrol in this area after it was revealed that Chinese drones were operating. It is said that along with the Indian Army, the Air Force closely monitors China’s movements along the LAC.

Although the Indian army has foiled China’s military, it is time to think seriously about the Chinese incursion. Retired military officials and strategic analysts say that the Indian army will not have only to react to China’s incursions, but will also have to take action so that China will not have the guts to invade again. Moreover, former officials and strategic analysts say that if China does not follow the border agreements between the two countries, the Indian army should break the tradition of not using weapons on the LAC. The government should allow the military for this, except that a selfish and treacherous country like China will not come to its senses.
