North Korea’s Kim Jong-un announced increase in nuclear capabilities after new missile tests

Pyongyang: North Korea, which tested three ballistic missiles on Saturday, signalled a more aggressive approach to its nuclear policy in the new year. On Sunday, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un criticising the US and North Korea, announced the development of a new intercontinental ballistic missile and an addition to the nuclear weapons stockpile. A few days ago, five North Korean drones entered South Korea. After that, new missile tests and Kim Jong-un’s statement seem to have increased tension in the region.

It was said that the missiles in these tests, conducted between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, reached a distance of 300 to 350 kilometres. South Korea has also confirmed these tests and has warned that the defence forces were on high alert.

In 2022, North Korea test-fired more than 90 ballistic and medium-range missiles, creating tension in the region. Due to these activities, North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un claimed that North Korea needed to increase its defence capability. He warned North Korea would add to its nuclear weapons in the new year. Kim Jong-un also claimed that North Korea would develop a new intercontinental ballistic missile and increase the production of tactical nuclear weapons.
