Houthis in Yemen refuse to extend the ceasefire

Aden: Nine soldiers from the Yemen military were killed in the attacks launched by the Houthi rebels in various parts of Yemen in the last 48 hours. The Yemen military is accusing Houthi rebels of these attacks as a ceasefire violation. The Houthi rebels have announced they are in no mood to extend the ceasefire imposed over the last four months. Therefore, a fresh conflict will likely flare up again in Yemen soon.

Houthis in Yemen refuse to extend the ceasefireA conflict has been raging in Yemen for the last seven years between the Hadi government, supported by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies and the Houthi rebels, supported by Iran. Millions have been killed in the conflict and more than 4 million people have been forced to migrate. Four months ago, the United Nations mediated a ceasefire between the Yemen government and the Houthi rebels.

US President Joe Biden, who visited Saudi last week, welcomed the ceasefire and appealed for an extension. Saudi expressed willingness for the proposal. But the Houthi rebels announced that they would not be extending the ceasefire with the Yemen government and Saudi and its Arab countries. Therefore, the civil war being fought for the last seven years in Yemen will keep raging.
