Last year, in December, the biggest ever defence agreement was signed between France and UAE. According to the agreement, France will be supplying 80 Rafale fighter jets to UAE. Under the same defence cooperation agreement, France has agreed to supply air defence to UAE. French Defence Minister Florence Parly announced this information on social media. Over the last few days, the French Defence Minister showered strong criticism on the attacks being carried out on UAE.

The French Defence Minister announced, ‘Since the last few days, UAE has become a target of the terrorists. France is prepared to assist the UAE in this conflict. UAE is a strategic partner for France and France is prepared to supply military and air security assistance to UAE.’ The French Defence Minister said, ‘Currently, Rafale fighter jets are deployed in Abu Dhabi. If a need arises, these fighter jets will assist the UAE military for surveillance and even airstrikes.’

The French announcement to provide air security to UAE with Rafale fighter jets becomes noteworthy. Only a few hours ago, the Biden administration in the United States announced the resumption of the suspended assistance to Saudi and UAE, citing the attacks by the Houthi rebels.
