Istanbul: It emerges that the Turkish agencies have started strict inspections of fuel-carrier vessels in the Bosphorus Strait, an important sea route for global fuel supply. Due to this investigation, many oil tankers have been stuck in this maritime region, and it is feared that it would affect the global fuel supply. Russia has also expressed concern over this issue and has said that talks with Turkey were ongoing.

Besides, new sanctions imposed by the Western countries on Russian fuel have come into force from Monday. In such a situation, many countries have started importing fuel from countries in addition to Russia. Most of these tankers use the Turkish maritime region. However, Turkey has begun checking the insurance and other documents of the ships and has taken a stand-off stance. Fuel tankers coming from Central Asian countries were said to be stuck due to this.
