Diplomatic negotiations still possible on nuclear deal with Iran

Washington/Tehran: The US constantly claimed that the nuclear agreement with Iran had become dead. Iran had supplied drones to Russia, which invaded Ukraine. Also, the US has consistently made it evident that Iran has drawn the wrath of the West by taking strict action against protesters in its country. Even so, US Secretary of State Blinken has claimed that the possibility of negotiations on the nuclear deal with Iran has not yet been completely concluded.

Besides, a video of US President Biden himself telling an Iranian woman protester that the nuclear deal with Iran had ended was released. The US Secretary of State has made statements contradicting it. The United States strongly believes that only diplomatic negotiations can reduce the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear programme, said the US Secretary of State, Blinken. He further added that these negotiations have been used so far and will continue in the future.

But, if Iran is not ready for these negotiations and the previous nuclear agreement, the US will have to consider other options, the US Secretary of State warned. Moreover, Blinken also said President Biden was committed to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Robert Malley, the special envoy appointed by the US for the nuclear deal with Iran, also clarified that the nuclear deal with Iran was not dead.

Furthermore, Iran had a golden opportunity to strike a nuclear deal with the US. But Malley criticised Iran for squandering this opportunity by supplying drones to Russia in the Ukraine conflict and cracking down on protesters in its own country. Even so, Malley claimed it was possible if Iran tried again for the nuclear deal. The European countries also indicate that they have not given up hope of a nuclear deal with Iran.

Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has said that the nuclear deal could be possible if the United States and the West were ready for a nuclear deal with Iran without crossing the red lines. The foreign minister of Iran has signalled that this includes Western countries’ interference in Iran’s internal affairs. The United States and the European Union have announced sanctions against Iran’s leaders in support of anti-government protests in Iran.
