On Thursday, the Pakistan Prime Minister, while speaking about the embarrassing moments faced by the previous governments during his speech in the Pakistan parliament, mentioned the action taken by the United States in 2010 to eliminate Osama Bin Laden. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the United States intruded into Pakistan and martyred Osama Bin Laden. The Pakistan government faced severe criticism from around the world, and Pakistan was vilified. According to Imran Khan, 70,000 Pakistanis have been killed in the wars fought alongside the United States. Despite this, a country which is an ally intrudes into Pakistan and carries out an operation without sharing any information with Pakistan.

He claimed that he had corrected the mistakes made by the previous governments and no one says that Pakistan has dual standards anymore. The Pakistan Prime Minister also made tall claims like, henceforth, Pakistan will not involve in any war and will cooperate with anyone working for peace. As per analysts, the honour given to Osama Bin Laden, the perpetrator of the 9/11 attack on the United States and responsible for the killing of thousands of people in the terror attacks carried out by his organisations, is proof enough for Pakistan’s dual standards.

Opposition parties and analysts from Pakistan have criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan over this issue. Opposition leader and former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Asif, asked a question in the parliament ‘Laden has devastated our country, and Imran Khan refers to him as a martyr?’ Whereas, Bilawal Bhutto, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, criticised that Imran Khan is supporting violent terrorism, in a way.

Analysts in Pakistan have said that the statement made by Imran Khan will spell more trouble for Pakistan and will tarnish the Pakistani image further. Imran Khan supporters are saying that the word martyr, for Laden, may have been said inadvertently. But the analysts are pointing out that first Imran Khan said that Laden was killed and then he said that Laden was martyred, as if he trying to correct his mistake. The analysts are saying that this portrays the mindset of the country.
