Cairo/ Khartoum: The ceasefire was extended to allow the release of foreign nationals trapped in the civil war in Sudan. But even after this, the capital Khartoum and the neighbouring city of Ondurman continue to be shelled and rocketed. The information about the loss of life in this conflict has been suppressed. But there is criticism that the security of foreign nationals coming out of Sudan is in danger. A Turkish military plane parked at Khartoum airport was fired upon. The Turkish military blamed paramilitary forces for the attack.

ceasefireBesides, Friday marked two weeks of civil war in Sudan. The US had announced a 72-hour ceasefire to prevent this conflict. During this period, the US, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and other countries launched extensive campaigns to evacuate their citizens from Sudan. But even during the 72-hour and subsequently extended ceasefire, the conflict between the army and paramilitary forces continues. The capital Khartoum has become a war zone, and even the locals are not safe.

ceasefireMoreover, millions of Sudanese displaced by the civil war are fleeing for refuge in neighbouring countries. Western and Arab, and African countries are trying to mediate to prevent this conflict between the military and paramilitary forces. Saudi Arabia, the closest Arab country to Sudan, will propose a new ceasefire to Army Chief General Burhan and Paramilitary Chief General Dagalo. It is hoped that both factions in Sudan will accept this proposal.

But before this proposal comes, questions about the safety of foreign nationals stuck in Sudan are raised. In the past two weeks of clashes, there have been incidents of foreign nationals being robbed at gunpoint. United Nations personnel were also killed in the conflict’s first two days. There were also rocket attacks on the Saudi Arabian plane. Saudi citizens and officials were not in the airport area then, so they were saved. But right now, the Turkish military plane that arrived at Khartoum International Airport to rescue its citizens was shot at.

ceasefireIt has come to light that the wing of a military cargo plane has been severely damaged. The attack took place when Turkish citizens were preparing to board the plane. Sudan’s military has blamed paramilitary forces for this. The army also accused General Dagalo’s rebel armed forces of being unprepared for a ceasefire. The paramilitary force has not responded. But for the past few days, the army has accused the paramilitary forces of violating the ceasefire implemented in Sudan. At the same time, the Sudanese army is also raising the question of how the paramilitary forces got the advanced weapons.

Meanwhile, there are concerns that Sudan’s coffers are starting to empty due to this civil war. On the occasion of this conflict, it has again come to light that the international community’s interests in Sudan are conflicting. The US and European allies, as well as Arab countries, are also claimed to be on opposing sides in the civil war in Sudan.
