Canada claims that China is carrying out surveillance in the Arctic -

Ottawa/Beijing: Canada has claimed that China is spying in the Arctic region. A few months ago, Chinese ‘buoys’ (floating devices) were found in the Arctic waters in operation by the Canadian Army. The Canadian Armed Forces have seized the Chinese devices. At the beginning of this month, the incidents of China’s ‘spy balloon’ and unidentified flying objects hovering over the borders of the US and Canada came to light. Now, China has been found to be carrying out espionage efforts in the seawater.

Canada’s leading daily newspaper ‘The Globe and Mail’ revealed reports of Chinese espionage. Last year, the Canadian armed forces launched a campaign called ‘Operation Limpid’ to identify threats to the country’s security and counter them. As part of this campaign, Canadian armed forces started making additional deployments and began regular patrols by sea and air. During the patrol, Chinese buoys were found to be moving around in the Arctic region. The Canadian forces have seized the equipment. However, no information has been disclosed in this regard.

After the Chinese spy balloon incident, Canadian media investigating such incidents got information about the Chinese buoy incident. The Globe and Mail, a leading daily in Canada, followed up and investigated it, revealing the case of Chinese espionage. Canada’s Defence Ministry was forced to issue a statement after the news was reported. The Defence Ministry is fully aware of the espionage activities carried out by China in Canada’s territorial waters and airspace. China is using devices with dual-purpose technologies,” said Daniel Le Bouthillier, Canada’s Department of Defense spokesman.

Michael Day, a former military officer in Canada, has claimed that China may have sent ‘buoys’ to spy on US submarines and other sensitive objects in the Arctic. The case of China’s ‘spy balloons’ was revealed earlier this month. A severe reaction emerged from China as the US downed the spy balloon. The Chinese regime has accused the US of using unnecessary force to down the balloon.
