US think tank EGFound alleges rise of Chinese influence in Middle East and African countries as the hold of United States declines

New York: – The Middle East and African countries that once used to be under the influence of the United States are drifting away from the United States. There is a massive 20% decline in the US influence in these countries. The thinktank ‘Eurasia Group Foundation’ has warned that China leveraged this situation and increased its influence across the Middle East and African countries. The US think tank claimed that the US stand regarding Afghanistan and foreign policies are responsible for this.

Moreover, the think tank has given an account of the Chinese and US trade with these countries from the Middle East and Africa over the last decade. In 2010, Chinese trade with Africa was $114 billion. Moreover, it reached $254 billion in the last year. But at the same time, the think tank has pointed out that there has been a decrease in the US-Africa trade.

There has been a change in trade alongside the stance of African and Middle East countries regarding the United States and China. In 2010, 81% of the population in Nigeria, the biggest economy in Africa, favoured the United States. There has been a reduction of 19% in the year 2019. The think tank claimed that African industry and people are currently looking at China as a trustworthy investor.

Moreover, more people from Jordan, an ally of the United States in the Middle East, are looking at the United States as a bigger threat than China. An intense negative outlook is developing against the United States in the Middle East countries. The think tank quoted analysts and claimed that the US Stand on Afghanistan is responsible for this. The think tank pointed out that at the same time, a belief that the US stand is full of hypocrisy is becoming stronger in the Middle East countries.

China is replacing the United States in the Middle East and African countries by taking advantage of the disbelief created given the faulty US policies. Analysts from the Middle East and Africa have claimed that the flawed US policies are responsible for this. The United States has always been insistent about democracy, freedom of expression and human rights. The United States is desirous that the countries cooperating with it should also be in the same framework.

The US think tank pointed out that China does not expect the countries it cooperates with to be committed to democracy or dictatorship. Besides, China also has a cheap marketplace available, cited the think tank. The Eurasia Group Foundation claimed this benefits China, as the US influence is declining.
