China eroded India’s trust due to ‘Galwan’ – NSA Ajit Doval

New Delhi – Chinese company BYD proposed investing $100 million in India by manufacturing electric vehicles. However, India rejected this proposal of China by citing the threat to national security. Thus, China’s reaction has come to the fore. Senior political official Wang Yi, China recently declared as foreign minister, said that India and China are not ‘dangerous’ to each other. Speaking on this, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval made Wang Yi realise that China has lost India’s trust because of ‘Galwan’.

Moreover, Ajit Doval and Wang Yi discussed this on Monday in Johannesburg, South Africa. Before that, India had rejected China’s ‘BYD’ proposal. This Chinese company was ready to invest $100 billion by setting up a vehicle manufacturing factory in India. Besides, as per claims, India’s demand for electric vehicles will increase significantly. Thus, BYD had prepared to take advantage of the Indian market, so this Chinese company had proposed cooperating with Indian companies. However, before that could happen, the government rejected this proposal, given the antics of Chinese companies, which proved fatal for India’s security. China is taking serious note of this.

During Monday’s discussion, Wang Yi claimed that India and China are not dangerous to each other. ‘The two countries can either cooperate or use their resources in opposition to one another. However, its decision will affect the people of both countries,’ said Wang Yi. Wang Yi had made similar claims before and requested cooperation from India. China declared Wang Yi as foreign minister. After the disappearance of Gang, who was the first foreign minister, Wang Yi was present as China’s representative at the international level. Thus, Yi’s role in cooperation in front of India is important.

However, China, which is expecting cooperation from India, attacked and killed Indian soldiers in the ‘Galwan’ valley of Ladakh in 2020. Ajit Doval made Wang Yi realise the consequences of this betrayal without explicitly mentioning it. Doval indicated that China had lost India’s strategic trust by attacking Galwan. At the same time, it will be necessary first to establish peace and harmony on the border to end the ongoing mistrust and non-cooperation between the two countries, Doval clarified during the discussion with Wang Yi.

Moreover, China’s cooperation and India’s role in the border dispute are consistent and Indian leaders have informed China occasionally. Even in the Johannesburg discussion, the National Security Advisor has once again made China’s ‘Wang Yi’ realise the same thing. India says tension on the border and bilateral cooperation cannot happen simultaneously. At the same time, by maintaining the border dispute, China is urging India to continue cooperation related to trade and investment. However, India has given a strong message that China, which is challenging the interests of India by infiltrating our border, will not get business facilities in future.

Furthermore, China has made many efforts at the political level to change India’s stance, yet it has been unsuccessful, indicated India. This has happened because China’s statements and actions are very hostile, said India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar a few days back.
