China may attack US with Electromagnetic Weapons, warn task force and experts

Washington/Beijing: China can launch Electromagnetic Pulse Weapons on the US, warned Task Force Head Peter Pry. That poses a real threat of possibly being able to win a war with a single blow by means of an EMP attack, Pry further added. The EMP attack may seem bloodless initially, but it could kill 90% of the American population if it endures for a longer span; expert Plamen Doynov expressed this concern. Last week itself, a senior US official had warned that China may launch a surprise nuclear attack.

Over the last year, the US-China relations have strained. China has also been exhibiting its rising strength of the defence. Besides, the US-China war may spark anytime over the Taiwan issue. China has adopted an aggressive stance that it would rebuke the United States alongside Taiwan. A few months ago, China tested Hypersonic Missile, which has concerned the United States. Against this background, the warning about China’s EMP weapon attack draws significant attention.

The US National and Homeland Security Department established an independent task force, given the threat of electromagnetic attack. The Chief of Task Force, Peter Pry, had issued a strong warning over the EMP weapon. If China or any other adversary were to launch an EMP attack successfully, the US could do little in response, warned Pry. Moreover, China would use EMP in conjunction with cyberattacks and physical sabotage, cited the Task Force head.

Besides, even though EMP weapon attack may seem bloodless initially, a long-lasting blackout in the United States can kill 90% population, Plamen Doynov expressed concern. Doynov is designated as the chief technology officer at the company EMP Shield. He further warned that countries with underdeveloped military technology would also use electromagnetic weapons.

A few days ago, the US Department of Defense published a report, which mentioned the threat posed by China over the electromagnetic attack. The report pointed at China‘s massive investment in such technology. China’s People’s Liberation Army would use this technology at the start of the war, the report warned. In August, the Chinese daily South China Morning Post had published news about the Chinese army testing the EMP weapon. The article also mentioned that China is researching an 80 Gigawatts EMP weapon.
