Challenges before the country will increase along with progress – PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi: ‘To the extent that India is progressing, the country’s challenges will also increase. Countries at the forefront of different fields may feel that India should not progress in its field. This competition can eventually take the form of enmity. We have to be prepared to face this. While facing challenges like terrorism and naxalism, the Central and State machinery should be prepared against it, keeping in mind that cutting edge technology can be misused by anti-national forces,’ the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, said. Addressing the ‘Chintan Shivir’ (brainstorming session) of home ministers of all states, the Prime Minister presented the concept of ‘one nation and one uniform of police’.

Challenges before the country will increase along with progress - PM Narendra ModiBy pointing out that the security challenges are also changing with changing times, the Prime Minister urged the home ministers of the states to take steps to modernize the police force. The Prime Minister explained that these anti-national forces could misuse social media, citing the challenges to the country’s security from terrorism and naxalism. Thus, the Prime Minister suggested that while forwarding any information from social media, verify it. If it is impossible to verify this information, do not forward the post as it may lead to chaos in the country, warned the Prime Minister at the time. Also, as much as technology like 5G has great benefits, its harmful effects can come to light and misinformation can spread far and wide at high speed, the Prime Minister added.

Moreover, Naxalism with the force of a gun or the power of the pen must be rooted out to avoid misleading the country’s youth. A strict policy should be adopted against terrorism as well because such anti-national forces are trying to expand their intellectual circle. It would be wrong to show mercy while taking strict action against them. 99% of the country’s population is law-abiding. The Prime Minister said that it is our responsibility to protect the law-abiding people by taking strong action against these anti-social forces, constituting only one per cent.

Meanwhile, as technology evolves, the police force must adapt to the latest developments. Security agencies must acquire the necessary technical skills to prevent fake news and propaganda. The Prime Minister appealed that the states should not only think of the budget but also consider the future while spending on this. Also, the Prime Minister claimed that by maintaining law and order and increasing the country’s pride, everyone from tourists to foreign investors would be attracted to our country. At the same time, the Prime Minister said that there is a need to be careful so that the power of the police force is not spent in unnecessary places. The Prime Minister has also expressed the belief that if we move with national interest in mind, no challenge will become difficult for us.

‘As the work is going on over one country, one ration card, one country, one grid, on the same lines, we should think about the concept of one country one police uniform. I am not saying that this concept should be implemented immediately, nor am I insisting on it. If it is acceptable to all, we can make this concept a reality at any time, in five or fifty years,’ the Prime Minister added.
