The Dinanagar area of Gurdaspur, the Indian district on the Indo-Pak border, is considered to be one of the most sensitive areas. Large scale arms and narcotics smuggling is done through the border in this area. Therefore, the Indian Security forces have strong security arrangements here. Two BSF soldiers, deployed in the Thakurpur village near the Indo-Pak border, heard the sounds of a drone at about 11:45 in the night, on Friday. The soldiers noticed that the sound was coming from the Pakistani side and it was moving towards the Indian border.

The soldiers started incessant firing towards the drone. Following this assault, the drone returned to Pakistan. Thereafter, again at 12:22, the drone sound reappeared. The soldiers present at the site once again fired at the drone. At that time, the drone was flying nearly 400 metres inside the Indian border. The drone once again returned to Pakistan, after the firing. Commandant N. Ganguly of the BSF reached the spot. Thereafter, a special search operation was launched in this area.

This is not the first instance of Pakistan sending drones in the Indian territory. Pakistan has many times, carried out spying in the Indian territory using drones. Many times, the Indian security forces have seized arms and narcotic hauls, sent through these drones. In the last week, in this very Thakurpur village, the BSF soldiers had driven a Pakistani drone away. At the same time, there was a recent incident of the Indian security forces, shooting down a Pakistani Quadcopter drone, in the Keran sector of Jammu-Kashmir, on the Line of Control.
