Hizbul Mujahideen Kashmir chief, Saifullah Mir, killed in encounter in Srinagar 

Srinagar: – Saifullah Mir, Commander of the terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahidin, was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Srinagar, in Jammu-Kashmir. Recently, three political activists from Jammu-Kashmir were kidnapped. As per the investigation agencies, Saifullah was involved in the kidnapping. Therefore, it is being said that the killing of Saifullah has delivered a blow to Hizbul. Already weakened Hizbul, is once again left without a leader.

After a tipoff that terrorists are hiding in the Rangreth area of Srinagar, the Jammu-Kashmir police and the CRPF started a joint mission. On the realisation of being surrounded by the security forces, the terrorists opened fire. Jammu-Kashmir Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh informed that Saifullah alias Doctor Saheb was killed in the encounter that followed. One of his accomplices was arrested during the action.   

At the beginning of this year, Hizbul commander Riyaz Naiku, known for attacks on the police and their family members in Jammu-Kashmir, was killed in an encounter. After that, Saifullah was made the commander of Hizbul. Saifullah Mir is also known as Gazi Haider and Doctor Saheb.   

In 2014, Saifullah joined Hizbul Mujahidin. Saifullah was a resident of Malangpora in Pulwama. Riyaz Naiku was the one who had recruited Saifullah in Hizbul and named him Gazi Haider. The security forces had been tipped off that he has moved from south Kashmir to Srinagar. It is being said that 2 or 3 terrorists were killed during the action, but the security forces have not confirmed the report.
