Moscow/Washington – The White House informed that US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin would hold discussions against the background of escalating tension over the Ukraine issue. The US National Security Council spokeswoman, Emily Horne, said that the debate would be held on Thursday afternoon. While the United States has expressed willingness to talk, senior Russian officials accused the United States of starting a new Cold War.

The US sources noted that as President Biden believes that there is no better alternative than a direct talk between countries’ leaders, he accepted the proposal to establish a dialogue with President Putin over the phone.
