Australia signs $2.5 billion defence deal with US

Canberra/Washington – Considering the increasing threat in the Indo-pacific region, Australia has initiated steps to enhance its defence preparedness. As part of this strategy, a defence agreement worth $2.5 billion was signed by Australia with the United States to purchase tanks and armoured vehicles. Australian Defence Minister shared the information about the deal.

This has infuriated the Chinese communist regime, which is issuing security threats and pursuing a trade war. Australia is standing its ground and giving a fitting reply to the oppressive Chinese tactics. Australia wants to increase its defence capabilities to be well prepared against any Chinese aggression in the pacific region.

A few months ago, Australia accepted the AUKUS deal with the United States and the United Kingdom. Under this agreement, Australia will receive eight nuclear submarines. After that, last month, Australia signed a deal with South Korea to supply K9 artillery guns. Besides, a few days ago, a defence cooperation agreement was signed with Japan.

This agreement to purchase tanks and armoured vehicles from the United States is the fourth agreement signed by Australia in the last few months. As per the agreement worth $2.5 billion, Australia will be purchasing 75 Abrams tanks and more than 50 armoured vehicles and other weapons. Tanks and armoured vehicles are expected to be commissioned in the Australian defence forces by 2025.
