India, China, Ladakh, LAC, India-China conflict,The 14th round, which started on Wednesday morning, failed once again. Before the discussion round itself, it was claimed that the talks would fail. Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane had presented the stand of the Indian Army in clear words that unless there is complete military withdrawal from Point 15 (Hot Spring), it cannot be said that the tension at the LAC has been defused. Quoting this, the Army Chief pointed out that the threat at the LAC is far from over.

Wenbin Wang, the spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry, expressed displeasure over the statements made by the Indian Army Chief. Efforts are being made at the diplomatic and military level by India and China to defuse the tension at the LAC. Wenbin said that China expects not to make any statements, which are counterproductive to maintaining peace. China had demanded India to continue its cooperation on trade and without connecting it to the tension at the LAC. It is quite evident that China expects India to allow its marketplace open for China despite the intrusion of Chinese soldiers into the Indian territory.

But Indian precondition for cooperation on trade and other fronts is that China maintains camaraderie at the LAC. The Indian Foreign Minister has repeatedly pointed out to China that the cooperation between the two countries cannot develop with thousands of soldiers deployed at the border. Despite this, China is unwilling to reduce its LAC deployment. Instead, China is carrying out fake propaganda that its military dominated the LAC in Ladakh.

Meanwhile, the joint statement released by the military officials of both the countries after the 14th round of negotiations agreed not to allow the tension at the LAC in Ladakh to escalate further. The joint statement also clarifies that it was decided to maintain the status of the points as agreed during the previous rounds of talks. The joint statement of the military officials also notes that communication and discussions will continue in the future, to resolve the disputed issue.
