The newspaper published that Iran had fulfilled all the criteria per the previous nuclear deal until President Donald Trump revoked it in 2015. However, after 2015, Iran has accelerated the nuclear program.

The newspaper, quoting US officials, said that Iran had accelerated the nuclear program after a setback due to Israel’s attacks on their nuclear facility. Any new attacks by Israel are likely to have adverse consequences.

The New York Times has kept the identity of the official sharing the information undisclosed. However, after the Manama Dialogue held in Bahrain on Sunday, the differences between Israel and the US are evident in Iran’s nuclear program. The discord between Israeli National Security Advisor Dr. Eyal Hulata and Brett McGurk, the US special envoy for Gulf, appointed by President Biden, has become public. Hulata, a former agent of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, has expressed that it will be easier to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities if the international community stands firmly against Iran. He also highlighted that if such a need is felt in the coming times, Israel is fully prepared for action against Iran.

But US Special envoy McGurk warned Israel against any military action against Iran. McGurk expressed confidence that The United States is focused on the discussions in Vienna and expressed confidence of political negotiations to succeed. McGurk presented the stand of the Biden administration, saying that the Biden administration would consider other options only if the negotiations failed. Any military action before that can certainly inflict damages to the Iranian nuclear projects, but it will not change the long-term plans of Iran.

Israel has accepted that it will not receive any support from the United States for action against Iran. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett expressed a possibility that Israel will have a dispute with its best friend on this issue. Prime Minister Bennett has asserted that Israel will neither support the Iran nuclear deal nor abide by it.
