Agitation in Sudan against the military has aggravated; 8 killed, over 200 injured

Khartoum – 8 protesters killed and more than 200 injured in military action in Sudan. The agitation was against the military uprising in Sudan. The dead includes a 13-year-old girl. The pro-democracy groups have accused the military of shooting the protestors. Against the background, the Sudanese army has proposed a coalition government with the military and political parties.

During the uprising in October, Military Chief General Abdel Fatah Burhan detained the senior Ministers and the Prime Minister. After that, the emergency was imposed with an assurance to initiate a process to transfer the power.

But the pro-democracy groups intensified the agitation, as the promise was not fulfilled. Extensive protests are held in the capital city of Khartoum and nearby cities. There are reports of the agitations to have turned violent. The military has started action to stop the violence by the protestors. However, the military has denied responsibility and clarified that they used rubber bullets and tear gas.

Two years ago, Dictator Omar Al Bashir was overthrown. After that, the reins of the country were in the hands of a joint interim government formed by the military and political groups. But now, after this uprising, the power in Sudan is entirely in the hands of the military. Therefore, even the African countries are upset along with Western countries and have warned of taking aggressive steps against Sudan.
