Analysts worldwide had warned that the independence of Afghan girls and women would be over if the Taliban took over the country. But saying that the Taliban is not the same as 20 years ago, Pakistan advocated for the Taliban. Taliban has completed three months of its rule and international analysts point out that all these claims have vanished in thin air.

Taliban has banned education for women and girls. Taliban has ordered, girls over the age of 12 should not be allowed to enter schools and should not even be tutored privately. With the fear of the Taliban, the number of girls going to schools has reduced drastically. More than 4 million boys and girls have been staying away from schools since the Taliban took over the country. UNICEF has said that there are more than 2 million girls among these children.

In some provinces of Afghanistan, girls are allowed to attend schools with the permission of the local authorities. Whereas, reports and videos have been received from some provinces that the senior students are privately taking the initiative to teach the younger girls. The local administrations and their supporters are apprehensive that if the Taliban know of this, they will stop even these classes. Besides, the girls will be deprived of education and knowledge.

The Afghanistan mission of the United Nations has said that there is an alarming increase in the atrocities against women in Afghanistan. An official from the United Nations said that this is kind of a dreadful endemic for the women of Afghanistan. There is a need for the international community to unite against this. Only two days ago, the United Nations had commented that the restrictions imposed by the Taliban against women journalists in Afghanistan are very unfortunate.
