US will have to launch attacks in Afghanistan again, US Defence Chief

Washington: ‘It is unlikely that the Taliban will succeed in uniting and governing Afghanistan. If that happens, Afghanistan will soon be plunged into a civil war, which could lead to the rise of Al-Qaeda or IS and new terrorist organisations. In that case, we would have to launch another airstrike in Afghanistan for the safety of the United States,’ General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has warned.

The Biden administration’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan has drawn criticism from the United States and worldwide. President Biden has tried to shirk his responsibility, saying it was a decision taken by the military officials. Against this backdrop, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, made it clear to a US News Agency that the US has an eye on every development in Afghanistan. At the same time, General Milley warned that there was a strong possibility of a civil war in Afghanistan.

General Milley refrained from talking more about the civil war. But a few days ago, US military analysts claimed that there would be clashes between Baradar, Haqqani, Badri, Yaqoob and Mehsud groups within the Taliban. At the same time, the Northern Alliance and IS-Khorasan will open an independent front against the Taliban, the analysts had said.
