Beijing: The US policies regarding Indo-Pacific are augmenting tensions in the region and inciting conflict. The Cold-Wartime mindset can cause a Ukraine-style tragedy, warned Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He also warned that Vietnam should not get entrapped by the United States. Russia taught a lesson to Ukraine, which was preparing to join NATO advise. Hence, the nations that depend on the United States and take sides against China would meet the same fate, warned the Chinese Foreign Minister.
On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephonic conversation with his Vietnamese counterpart Bùi Thanh Sơn. They discussed establishing mutual cooperation in the South China Sea region. Besides, Wang Yi also slammed US interference in the Indo-Pacific region. For that, Yi cited the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
‘The Ukraine conflict has proven to the Asian countries that maintaining peace instability in our region is important. We also learn if the conflict is fought in groups, it causes an endless threat, warned Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The US policies regarding Indo-Pacific and the assistance it would receive from countries in that region would challenge the security of ASEAN member countries, warned the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Even though the Chinese Foreign Minister did not mention it, he appears to have targeted the rising military cooperation between US-Taiwan. Over the last few days, the United States has been providing arms to Taiwan at large. Besides, the US representatives and officials have been meeting in Taiwan. Thus, China has become restless and warnings had surfaced that China would attack Taiwan the way Russia invaded Ukraine. Initially, China had avoided claiming the land of Taiwan and comparing it with Ukraine.
But, over the last few days, the intrusion of Chinese fighters in Taiwan airspace and Chinese military actions have increased. On Friday, the Chinese army had conducted a special war exercise near the Taiwanese region. This included Destroyers and Fighter Jets of China’s People’s Liberation Army. This exercise was conducted from the East China Sea to the Taiwanese region.
Chinese military actions are concerning and it could strike Taiwan in the Ukraine-style, warned international analysts. Chinese foreign minister appears to be issuing this warning after speaking with his Vietnamese counterpart.
