US Congress decides to waive sanctions against India

Washington: The US had threatened to impose sanctions against India for purchasing the S-400 Triumph air defence system from Russia. The Biden administration had warned that sanctions could be imposed on India under the law ‘Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act-CAATSA’. But, the US Congress passed a resolution to exclude India from these restrictions. Member of the US Congress Ro Khanna has expressed his satisfaction by informing that the members of parliament of the ruling and opposition parties of the United States have decided to stand behind India.

After that, the issue of US sanctions on India will be resolved. India needs Russia’s S-400 air defence system to counter an expansionist country like China; US Congressman Ro Khanna pointed out. Khanna pointed out that it was necessary to exclude India from this ban.

This will strengthen the US-India partnership. On this occasion, Ro Khanna explained that the partnership with India is strategically the most important thing for the United States. Earlier, US leaders, senior officials and analysts had also demanded India’s exclusion from the CAATSA ban. All of them said that it would be in the interest of the United States to do so.
