The United States always prioritises its interests, says Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the United States had prepared to impose sanctions on the Wagner Group fighting in favour of Russia in the Ukraine conflict. However, he added that the US delayed imposing sanctions on the company after Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner Group, revolted. Lavrov said that while Prigozhin has rebelled against Russian President Putin, the US does not want to deliver a message favouring Russia by banning Wagner Group. The US media informed that, therefore, they postponed the ban. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reprimanded the US.

In addition, he said the decision also clarified the US interest in the Ukraine conflict. He further claimed that the United States was exposed again, which claims of expecting a rule-based order.

On Wednesday, a US newspaper claimed that US President Joe Biden had received information that the Wagner Group was preparing for a rebellion and that Prigozhin would challenge the Russian President. However, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić claimed they believed that the United States and the Western countries executed the Prigozhin revolt. He also asserted that foreign intelligence agencies were behind the Wagner Group’s rebellion. However, Vučić refrained from making the details public.

However, Vučić claimed the attempted rebellion failed due to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s resolute and decisive response. Concurrently, citing the rebellion of the Wagner Group, the US news channel informed that the United States had believed that the rebellion would cause a lot of bloodshed in Russia.
